Dolmen du Grah_Niol

Bernon

A burial with a side chamber is composed of large upright granite blocks, the space between witch as been filled with dry-stones masonry. A covered passage leads to the burial chamber.

Excavated by F Gaillard in 1895, excavations brought to light artefacts comprising stone tools (arrow head, polished axes), dress ornaments (beads of polish green stone) and numerous fragments of ceramic.

 

Several upright stones carry engraved decorations.

 

Pointe de Bilgroix

 

 

 

This megalithic funerary monument was buitl between 2900 and 2500 BC. The large stones covering the passage where supported by dry-stones walls. The western end of the monument was closed by a large stone orthostat

 

At the eastern end, the entrance was closed by a small upright stone blocked by smaller stones witch could be removed at eatch burial.

 

Later a system of defensive banks where built against the cairn and barred access to the point.

A post hole still with the packing stones illustrates the probable existence of wooden constructions complementing the dry-stone walls. Occupation is attested by the presence of a large quantity of ceramic.

 

 

La Butte de César

 

Occording the legend, the Tumiac tumulus, also known by the name of "Cesar's mound", served at a lookout post for Cesar during the naval battle that ended the power of the Veneti in 56 BC. It is in fact a funerary monument dating to around the end of the 5 th millennium BC. The burial mound as a diameter of 86 meters (282 ft) and is 20 meters (65 ft) hight.

The chest - 4,40 meters (14 ft) long, with and mean width 2,40 meters (8 ft) and 1,60 to 1,75 meters (5-6 ft) is made in a half megalithic half dry stone structure and is coved by three stones slabs.
The radiocarbon dating as identified it as being from 4790 and 4530 BC

 

Cairn du Petit Mont

 

 

Around 4600 BC
Around 4500 BC The cairn 1 (without chambre and dolmen), it was 30 meters long and 20 meters large.
Around 4000-3500 BC the cairn 2 with a dolmen, six upright stones are garvered and also three upright stones of the passage.
Around 2700-2500 BC the cairn 3 with two new dolmens.
The dolmen 4 was destroy in 1943 when a bunker wes contruyed.
