| In Plouarzel : THE MENHIR OF KERLOAS | ||

||
| One of the fourth tallest menhir of Brittany, it is 9.5 metres high. | ||
| One metre higher from the ground there are two artificial bumps that could represent a woman's breasts. They are used since the menhir for the cult of fertility was erected. For centuries sterile wives came to rub their groin against the bumps of the stone and according to the local custom young couples went to the menhir at night and rubbed themselves on the stone in order to give birth to boys. Towards the end of the 19th century the newly-weds came and embraced the standing stone. |
